The Story

Handcrafted in gold, the Kuhu Indian wedding choker necklace features pairs of peacocks (mor) enclosing a drop, alternating with trapezoidal units, all dressed in polki/uncut diamonds kundan-set using the traditional jadai technique.

A diamond- and gem-set pendant with fringes of seed pearl and green enameled bead clusters is suspended from the necklace, surrounded by chaand (crescent) shaped scallops on either side. Fringes of seed pearl and green enameled bead clusters are suspended from the crescents. This Indian wedding necklace showcases 16–20 man-hours of skillful pirai and 30–40 man-hours of intricate chhilaai.

Of all bird motifs in Indian jewelry, the peacock is the most important. It is the vahana (mount) of Lord Shiva and Parvati's second son, Karttikeya, and symbolizes joy, beauty, and pride.
